Jim, Sharon, Caroline and Andrea Corr make up the popular sibling band from Ireland. They were supposed to perform their first concert in Singapore last Valentine's Day but due to Andrea's ear infection, the whole band had to discontinue their European tour and thus canceling their Asian leg.
Walking in glamorously late for the press conference (it's a norm for press conferences to start later than the stipulated time) The Corrs look much better in real life than pictures.
The audience, which was made up from press around the island asked anything and everything they wanted to know about The Corrs. And true to their down-to-earth nature, they answered each question with ease and sincerity. Jim, the only guy in the group was quite comical, contrary to the serious looking pictures you see of him around. He remarked, I'm here to make the girls look good! and the press roared into a little laugh.
The Corrs are in Singapore as part of their Asian leg tour. They are due to perform in Malaysia, Australia and New Zealand in the next few weeks. At the press conference held today at The Hilton Singapore, they were presented with a surprise token from their label, Warner Music, for exceeding the 45,000 sales mark for their In Blue album. For your information, that's triple platinum status.
The Best Of The Corrs album is due to hit stores on the 15th of October and we managed to ask them about the two new tracks; Would You Be Happier? and Make You Mine, that can be found on the album.
'Would You Be Happier' is the first single from the Best Of album, said Andrea. The song is a pop song and we are very pleased with it, she continued. Coincidentally, the song also marks the direction The Corrs' music is going to.
For more than 10 years, the group has successfully married pop, rock and traditional Irish music. Listening to the likes of The Carpenters, The Eagles and later to Prince, Sting, Genesis, The Police and not forgetting Irish music while growing up, it is natural for them to combine the three elements and define it to The Corrs' music.
For tomorrow's concert, be prepared to hear The Corrs' live for the first time in Singapore. Be prepared to be captivated by Andrea Corr as she will sing to you their hit singles from their previous releases.
If you are thinking of rushing down to get your tickets, I'm sorry to say that all 8000 tickets have been sold out! So I guess you have to wait till the next time they are here.
The Corrs performs at the Singapore Indoor Stadium tomorrow night, 6 October at 8pm.
