Most of you would probably be surprised if I tell you Ferhad is actually from Singapore. Though somewhat unknown in the English music industry, he is no stranger to the Malay music industry, especially in Malaysia.
Recently, Ferhad was back in his home country to promote his first English album, Tubed. The album is a mix of pop and R&B tracks with his distinctive vocals shining through very clearly.
The showcase started off with Ferhad singing a couple of energetic, upbeat tracks, backed by his band, followed by the only Malay song for the night. The audience lapped it all up willingly and cheered for this homegrown singer.
Then as the night went on, temperatures heated up inside Hard Rock Cafe, one time hitting a high as Ferhad sat on the lap of a female audience and serenaded her with his soulful music. Whew! (She didn't look exactly thrilled though!)
A seasoned performer, Ferhad got the audience involved in waving their hands and singing along with him. He's definitely up there alongside our familiar local talents like Kit Chan, Tanya Chua in terms of talent, all he needs is just more exposure in this little country of ours! Go Ferhad!
