Trademark | Trademark amazes Singapore!

Tan Yng Jich | July 2000

The German act that opened for Westlife at their "East Meets Westlife" concert, was in Singapore for the opening of Breek's newest cybercafe in Singapore. Trademark, together with SBDW, a Taiwan group, performed a medley of songs from their albums to an audience of invited media and business members. Maybe it was the whole serious atmosphere of the launch, or maybe it was just the fact that Trademark sang slow ballads, it took a while for the audience to warm up to the group. Starting off the showcase was SBDW, with their highly energetic songs before Trademark took to the stage.

Sascha Sadeghian (29), Mirko Baumer (31) and Achim Remling (25) were first discovered at a pub where they were performing. The group released their debut album, "Another Time Another Place" which was Top 30 in Germany and toured around Asia in 1999 before releasing their second and latest album, "Only Love".

Starting off their showcase with "I'll Be The One" taken from their debut album, Trademark displayed the strong vocals that they are so well known for. Achim, the lead singer for the track, was singing so emotionally that he turned all red! Besides singing, the group also entertained the guests with their various antics. Even though there was limited space, Mirko managed to make the audience laugh with his witty remarks and quirky jokes! By that time, everyone was captivated. The group then proceeded to perform a cover of "Amazed", which received applause and cheers from the guests, albeit after much prompting! Finally, their last song of the showcase was the title single from the album, "Only Love". This time around, applause was generous and everyone did not need any prompting at all.

For many, it was the first time that they were introduced to Trademark. After the showcase, many were left pretty much impressed with these three lads. All we can do now is to hope that the next time they come back to Singapore, would be to perform in a much bigger premises!
