Every Little Thing | 4 Force
"4 Force" is Every Little Thing's first album after group member cum songwriter Mitsuru Igarashi's public announcement that he was leaving the group. The remaining members, Koari Mochida and Ichiro Ito, rose above the occasion and manages to stay true to the style of Every Little Thing with this new effort. With one member missing, perhaps Every Little Thing has overcome the shortcoming and instead come into maturity and has evolved into its own characteristic style encompassing their regular light-beat, fast-paced J-Pop rhythm complete with a new touch.
Of the 11 songs in the album, besides the tracks "Broken Pieces of Love", "fragile", "JIRENMA" and "Graceful World", the rest are all new works. "JIRENMA" is the closing theme tune for popular Japanese animation "Initial D Third Stage"; "Graceful World" is the theme song for Japanese drama series "Big Wing"; "fragile" is the theme song for Japanese variety show "ainori" while "Broken Pieces of Love" is used in a hair commercial which also features ELT member Koari Mochida. Just so coincidentally, every one of ELT's good songs is tied up with some commercial, TV series or programmes. Not a simple feat indeed.
One special highlight of "4 Force" is that it sees the collaboration of a group of fresh, young music talents. Firstly, all the lyrics are written by Mochida; the music is composed jointly by Ito and other young songwriters. Listening to the album, you cannot help but sway to the brand of energetic sensuality which ELT is known for. Lead vocal Mochida's high-pitched voice also injects emotion and life to an otherwise typical J-Pop album. The new ELT definitely has something to offer fans of J-Pop; but be prepared for a changing repertoire the next time.
