SSO's much anticipated and awaited 8th International Piano Festival will be held this July. This annual Piano Festival has been met with much success in its 7-year history and this year is no exception. The Festival this year explores the theme of Variations where the composers' talent and musical flair are exhibited through their mastery over music techniques involving changes to music melodically, harmonically, or contrapuntally. This form of composition is exemplified in J.S. Bach's monumental Goldberg Variations where the theme is followed by 30 variations! Goldberg Variations will be performed by Angela Hewitt.

Mergers, acquisitions and cartels - these are terms commonly associated with the age of modern commercialisation and industrialisation. However, such joint-efforts toward betterment have already been in existence far before our time, taking in the form of musical partnerships. Composers share in each other's works; borrowing themes and re-adapting them to generate new meanings - in the process creating new masterpieces. In this Festival, you will hear the fruits of such labour, given birth through the co-operations of Bach-Busoni, Thalberg-Bellini, Liszt-Verdi and Liszt-Bellini.

From Bach to Beethovan, come explore Variations in the upcoming 8th International Piano Festival. We will present to you four acclaimed piano virtuoso over four evenings, from July 5 to July 8. Hear for yourself the brilliance of the composers who “sing” to you through the mastery of the soloists. Variations will be an experience that is certain to thrill and tingle your senses.
