Simply divine, the only two words that can describe
this album. "Here’s To Ben" is a special tribute to Ben Webster,
the famous saxophonist that has ever lived. Singing classics
such as "Georgia On My Mind", "Star Dust" and "Tenderly,"
Jacintha delivered the pieces well.
Backing her up is a band of powerhouses in jazz: former Miles
Davis keyboardist Kei Akagi, legendary West Coast saxophonist
Teddy Edwards, Larable Marable, drummer of Charlie Haden’s
Quartet West and bassist Darek Oles who has worked with everybody
from Ravi Coltrane to Lee Konitz. This collaboration raised
the standard of local singers to greater heights.
Exposed to jazz at a very early age, Jacintha feels at home in this
album. She knows how to suit her voice to each song. Her vocals
blend perfectly well in all the songs, which brought out a
wholesome flavor in this tribute album.
