Combo | Living Room
Paris Combo is a musical celebration of the contemporary Parisian
melting pot. The chanteuse, Belle du Berry, has her roots
in the "chanson" tradition (Kosma - Prevert, Arletty)
and has already made her mark in the Paris Underground scene.
She formed PARIS COMBO in 1994, together with the Django-like
Potzi and the drummer-crooner, François-François. With the
arrival of trumpeter David Lewis (ex Manu Dibango and Arthur
H) and the bassist-vocalist Mano Razanajato (born in Madagascar),
the band developed an unusually broad musical spectrum, embracing
jazz, latin, gypsy and oriental grooves with an natural flair.
After playing the Parisian café circuit for a couple of years,
the band released their first album in 1997 on the independant
Boucherie label.
They have recently released their latest album, "Living Room",
an album that has its own unique, quirky brand of jazz, chanson
and cabaret. Paris Combo makes a refreshing and entertaining
break from mainstream Jazz music. Bon Jour Singapore! They
were in town recently for a performance and Vivamusic.com
caught up with them for an interview. Watch it at Vivamusic.com.
