American Psycho
The soundtrack from the "controversial motion picture", "American Psycho" is one CD packed to the brim with tunes from the 80s remixed for the 90s. The movie is based on Bret Easton Ellis' 1989 novel about a man, Patrick Bateman who "believes that everything is a commodity designed for his personal gratification". Set in New York in 1987, the movie covers every single aspect, from clothes to the music of that time. This soundtrack reflects the exact feel from the movie with retro tunes that have a 90s twist to it.
Take for example the first track from the album, "You Spin Me Like A Round "(Like A Record). Though it's a track that you would hear in Zouk on Wednesdays, this time around, Dope’s cover of the track turns it into a funky, rock song. Besides music, the soundtrack is peppered with Patrick's monologue that is taken from the movie itself. The movie "American Psycho" has been described as "a wry-satire" of consumerism of the 80s, and its soundtrack reflects this with the various semi-industrial sounds.
