Eating Air, a local movie made and directed by movie critic Kelvin
Tong and editor Jasmine Ng is about a youths obsession
with kung fu and bikes. Even though the film did not manage
to make enough money to break even, that does not indicate it
is not a well-produced movie. The same can be said about the
soundtrack.
Eating
Air, the soundtrack is produced by Joe Ng and carries four
tracks (out of the eighteen tracks album) by the local band,
The Boredphucks. The title track, Eating Air fits so perfectly
with the bands voice and style that no other band will
be able to portray the vagabond attitude as well as The Boredphucks.
Another personal favourite is the track 1-2-1, sung in the
dialect, Hokkien. (Though it takes a while for you to figure
out that it is sung in Hokkien) Listening to this song will
put a smile on your face, once you understand the lyrics.
Added by its catchy tune, you may soon find yourself humming
it too.
Not only does this album help to move the story along, it is a fun
album to listen to. After all, other than the Hokkien album
that our parents love to blast from their Hi-Fi, which other
one can you catch the younger generation listening to? My answer
will be the soundtrack Eating Air.
