Stankonia is Outkast's fourth release. With its psychedelic funk beats and grinding bass and guitar sounds, it marks a new approach to commercialise hip-hop songs.
The songs featured in the album are not your typical hip-hop songs. They are often complex and abstract. My favourite track is So Fresh, So Clean. It's great for chilling with its lounging funk sounds. The downside of this album however, is the presence of the guest artistes are often overshadowed by the duo themselves.
Overall, Stankonia is a unique hip-hop album and Outkast can be categorised together with Black-eyed Peas and The Roots. Stankonia should be in the list of Top 20 hip-hop album of the year.
