A-ha has been around since 1982 but probably their most impressionable
hit was the digitally remastered "Take on Me", which propelled
them to stardom.18 years, a number of US and UK Top 10 hits and a couple of solo
efforts later, the band hailing from Norway has come up with
a new album with a softer approach compared to the days of
retro.
The songs on Minor Earth Major Sky were arranged and co-produced
by the members themselves. The personal touch shows and lead
vocalist come with a tinge of melancholy. The music is nice
and soothing, which makes good relaxing fodder if you are
in need of relief. The lyrics might be a tad bit sad but on
the whole the album is a nice refreshing change from loud
obnoxious pop.
Minor Earth Major Sky has reached platinum in a-ha’s homeland, and
is climbing steadily on the Top 20 charts in other European
countries like Germany and Switzerland.
With their exotic Scandinavian accents and boyish looks
(yes, they still look good after 18 years),
it’s no wonder they were and still are popular icons in the
European entertainment industry, So go on, take a sneak preview
at their songs and judge a-ha for yourself.
