If you hate being melancholic, then forget about Coldplay.
The youngest band on the recent NME Carling Premier
spits out guitar symphonies with heartfelt melodies brings
out the broody side of you, not too much to make you cry
but enough to make you restless for the rest of the day.
Formed while they were in the second year of university,
the London lads are terribly selective about the music they play.
The end sounds are dark, somber, nothing short of cute;
but there is tiny ray of light at the end of the tunnel
which makes their debut album bearable. A lighter version of
Radiohead, touted as the next Travis; "Parachutes"
is immensely polite and unassuming, great for the battered
emotions in you which badly need some form of healing.
Look out for "Shiver" and "Yellow", the latter receiving
more airplay on local stations in recent times.
Coldplay is telling us to give them two years for them to shine;
and from the looks of "Parachutes", I am hoping they will shine too.
