Out for worldwide release only on 28th February 2000, Smashing Pumpkins's new
album "Machina / the machine of God" is going to rock the world again. The
album, the band's fifth, is produced by Flood
and Billy Corgan, the team behind the world-wide double CD Mellon Collie
and the Infinite Sadness and sees the return of drummer Jimmy Chamberlin
to the band after three years.
Jimmy Chamberlin spent the last three years in drug rehab. The album follows the band's 1998 release, Adore, which has sold over three million copies worldwide and was nominated for a Grammy Award for best Alternative Album.
Their opening track "The Everlasting Gaze" explodes to life with its firestorm of guitars and heavy metaphysical thunder. The single, "Stand Inside Your Love", soaring away with a spiraling guitar solo reminds the audience of quintessential Pumpkins moments.
"Try, Try, Try" is a track which taps into Corgan's ever-present melancholy. "Machina / the machines of God" is a showcase of the Pumpkins' static, elusive guitar rock style. After coming out with five albums, it seems as if Corgan is saying that they are still smashing their guitars after all.
