The Stone Roses | The Remixes
The Stone Roses, which redefined music for Britain in the 1980s, has a remix album out, done by various classical producers and DJs like Paul Oakenfold, Utah Saints and Jon Carter.
Formed in 1985, the band, which filled stadiums in the UK was hailed nationwide as being able to create a good blend from Byrds-like folk with the British psychedelic dance pop of the 1980s with their debut album, So Young. As the Manchester 'baggy' scene infiltrated Britain's consciousness, Stone Roses, together with Happy Mondays, soon were perceived to be the leaders of the flare-wearing pack.
However, the band lost momentum after their fight for release from their recording label, especially in the U.S., where their fanbase was just expanding. The second release from Stone Roses, Second Coming, failed to make as great an impact as So Young, and their popularity went a straight downhill after that.
