Bardot | Poison
This is Aussie girl group, Bardot's first single from their self
titled debut album and it has already achieved No. 1 status in the
country itself. From the single title itself, you'll probably have
images of bottles with labels that have skulls on them. The song
lyrics say it all, "If you can't be true I got news for you/ Just
remember I can be poison." Out to shock, out to tease, that's what
"Poison" is all about, besides your usual dose of love, breakups
and jealousy set to pop music.
The five girls that form the group, Belinda Chappel, Sophie Monk,
Sally Polihronans, Katie Underwood and Tiffany Wood did not go
through your usual "singing in a pub before being discovered by
so-and-so producer" process. Like the Spice Girls, they went through
intense auditions. But unlike their counterparts, their every move,
from auditions to selection, from recording the album to promoting it,
was recorded and broadcasted for the immensely popular television show
"Popstars". This has resulted in massive publicity for Bardot in Australia.
The success of their first single has managed to silence many of the
critics and cynics that the group has had since their beginning days.
"Poison" is actually a sample of what's more to come, when the group
releases their debut album here in mid-June.
