Just about 13 years ago while the local music scene was barely in its infant stage,
Francis(Frightful) decided he had had enough of the typical rock
available then and got three of his friends to form the group Opposition Party.
Their main objective was to play and eventually create more awareness for punk rock, a genre greatly frowned upon by many in the late 80s.
Opposition Party has seen many changes in its band members, finally settling for four punk rock lovers : Francis (the only original member left) on lead and guitar, Danny on
lead guitar and backing vocals, Kauzo on bass guitar and backing vocals and Ray
on the drums and backing vocals. As part of the pioneers in the local music
scene, they have appeared in compilations like "New School Rock Volume 1,"
by local magazine BigO and the soundtrack for the highly acclaimed local film
"Mee Pok Man", They have also been regulars in legendary gigs like "No
Surrender," and many others.
Their latest album, "1999", does not stray far from their deep root punk rock and underground music. With superb guitar skills by Danny and each member's strong background in death metal and
punk rock, it is no wonder Opposition Party is a name well known to many in the local scene now. Choice tracks are "Rapture of Hypocrisy," and "Hack and Slash", where the best is brought out from the boys. An album not to be missed if you are a true blue
punk fan.
*Latest update about the band: Opposition Party is the proud winner of a lyric
